57. Where, upon the apprehension of a person charged with an offence, any property is taken from that person, the court before which it is tried may order —
that the property or any part thereof be restored to the person who appears to the court to be entitled thereto, and, if that person is the person charged, Criminal Procedure Code (2026 Revision) Section 58 c Revised as at 31st December, 2025 Page 33 that it be restored either to that person or to such other person as the person charged may direct; or
that the property or a part thereof be applied to the payment of any fine or any costs or compensation directed to be paid by the person charged.
