33. (1) An employer shall, in respect of any given wage or gratuity payment, within one week of the making of the payment, furnish that employee forthwith with a precise statement in writing showing how the said payment was made up.
Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1), whenever an employer makes any deduction from an employee’s wages, a statement furnished under subsection (1) shall include the amount deducted and the nature of the deduction.
Any employer who fails to furnish a statement under subsection (1) commits an offence.
