Court may require witness to be called

If the court is of the opinion that any witness who is not called for the prosecution ought to be so called, it may require the Crown to call that witness and, if the witness is not in attendance, may make an order that that witness's attendance be procured and adjourn the further hearing of the case until the witness attends, or may on the application of the accused discharge the jury and postpone the trial.
