Action under Law

In all actions brought against any person entitled to rents, his bailiff or receiver, or other person, relating to any entry by virtue of this Law or otherwise upon the premises chargeable with such rents, or to any distress or seizure, sale or disposal of any goods or chattels thereupon, it is lawful to and for the defendant in such actions to plead the general issue; and give the special matter in evidence, any law or usage to the contrary notwithstanding; and in case the plaintiff in such action discontinues his action or has judgment against him, the defendant shall recover double costs.
