Offence where regulations are contravened

Subject to section 59, a person who —
contravenes or fails to comply with any regulations made under section 57; or
uses on a road a vehicle, trailer or pedal cycle which does not comply with any such regulations or causes or permits a vehicle to be so used, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of twelve months, or to both, and the particulars of the conviction shall be endorsed on that person's driving record.
