Prohibition from conveyance of infected persons in public conveyance

Whoever —
being the owner, driver or carrier of a public conveyance knowingly conveys in any public conveyance a person suffering from any notifiable disease;
knowingly places in any public conveyance a person suffering from any notifiable disease; or
being a person suffering from any notifiable disease enters a public conveyance,
commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of one hundred dollars.
If any person suffering from any infectious disease is conveyed in any public conveyance, the owner or carrier thereof as soon as it comes to that person's knowledge shall give notice to the Medical Officer of Health, and cause such conveyance to be disinfected, and if that person fails so to do, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of one hundred dollars and the owner, driver or carrier of such conveyance shall be entitled to recover from the person so conveyed by that person, or from the person causing that person to be so conveyed, a sum sufficient to cover any loss and expenses incurred by that person in connection with such disinfection. It shall be the duty of an Environmental Health Officer when so required by the owner, driver or carrier of such public conveyance, to provide for the disinfection of the same free of charge.
