Declaration and other requirements on enlistment

10. (1) Every police officer shall, on joining the Service or before entering on the duties of that police officer’s office, make before a senior officer a declaration on oath or affirmation in the form prescribed in Schedule 1.
Every police officer required to make a declaration under subsection (1) shall, on joining the Service and before making such declaration, answer truthfully any question which may be put to that police officer as to that police officer’s previous service in any of Her Majesty’s Forces or any police force and as to whether that police officer has ever been convicted of any offence.
A person who wilfully makes a false statement in reply to any question put to that person under subsection (2) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of three thousand dollars or to imprisonment for one year, or to both.
Every police officer shall, on joining the Service or before entering on the duties of that police officer’s office, have —
that police officer’s fingerprints taken and recorded on the form prescribed in Schedule 2; and
such other sample, whether intimate or not, taken.
