169. A person who —
voluntarily corrupts or fouls the water of any public spring, stream or reservoir so as to render it less fit for the use of mankind;
voluntarily vitiates the atmosphere in any place so as to render it noxious to the health or comfort of persons in general making use of the neighbourhood;
for the purposes of trade or otherwise makes loud noises or offensive smells in such places and circumstances as to interfere with the comfort of persons in the exercise of their common rights; or
deposits offal or refuse in the sea within five hundred yards of the shore, commits an offence: Provided that nothing in this section shall affect any public officer in the carrying out of that public officer’s lawful duties.
