Chain letters

156. (1) A person who sends or causes to be sent any chain letter or who sends or receives any money or money’s worth in connection with any chain letter commits an offence and is liable to a fine of five hundred dollars and to imprisonment for six months.
In this section — “chain letter” means a document addressed by one person to another suggesting to the person to whom it is addressed —
that that person should send a document having the same purport to a number of persons; and
that that person should remit to a person or to an address specified in the first-mentioned document money or money’s worth. Section 157 Penal Code (2026 Revision) Page 68 Revised as at 31st December, 2025 c
