304. (1) A person who impairs, diminishes or lightens any current gold or silver coin with intent that the coin so impaired, diminished or lightened may pass for a current gold or silver coin, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for fourteen years.
A person who unlawfully has in that person’s possession any filing or clipping, or any gold or silver bullion, or any gold or silver dust, solution or otherwise, which has been produced or otherwise obtained by impairing, diminishing or lightening any current gold or silver coin, knowing that it has been so produced or obtained, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for seven years.
