Records management standards

The National Archivist may, with the approval of the Deputy Governor, draw up and issue standards relating to all aspects of records management by public agencies.
Without limiting the generality of subsection (1), such a standard may make provision for or with respect to —
minimum standards for public record storage facilities;
the treatment, in a manner that will prevent further deterioration or damage, of records that have been damaged or have deteriorated; and
disaster preparedness in relation to public records.
A public agency shall create, manage and dispose of its public records in accordance with any prescribed standard.
A standard may from time to time be revoked, amended or replaced by a subsequent standard drawn up by the National Archivist.
The National Archivist shall provide advice to public agencies to assist them in complying with standards under this section.
