Definitions for legislative purposes

In this section the expression “statutory period” means, in relation to any regulations, a period of twenty-one days beginning on the day on which the regulations were laid before the Legislative Assembly and reckoned without regard to — (a) any period during which the Legislative Assembly is dissolved or prorogued; (b) any period during which the Legislative Assembly is adjourned for more than six days; or (c) whether the days are comprised — (i) in one or more than one Session of the Legislative Assembly; or (ii) partly in a Session of the Legislative Assembly which is dissolved and partly in a Session of the succeeding Legislative Assembly.
The expression “subject to affirmative resolution” when used in relation to any regulations shall mean that those regulations are not to come into operation unless and until affirmed by a resolution of the Legislative Assembly.
The expression “subject to negative resolution” when used in relation to any regulations shall mean that those regulations, as soon as may be after they are made, are to be laid before the Legislative Assembly, and if the Legislative Assembly within the statutory period next after any such regulations have been so laid resolves that the regulations be annulled, the regulations shall be void as from the date of the resolution, but without prejudice to the validity of anything done thereunder or to the making of new regulations.
