Co-operation between Departments

Where it appears to the Department that any government department, statutory authority or other person authorised by the Governor in Cabinet for the purpose of this section could, by taking any specified action, help in the exercise of any of the Department's functions under this Part, the Department may request the help of that other department, authority or person, specifying the action in question.
A government department or statutory authority or other person whose help is so requested shall comply with the request if it is compatible with their own statutory or other duties and obligations and does not unduly prejudice the discharge of any of their functions.
Where —
a child is being looked after by the Department; and
the Department proposes to provide accommodation for him in an establishment at which education is provided for children who are accommodated there, the Department shall, so far as is reasonably practicable, consult the Education Department before making any decision with respect to the child's education.
Where a child is being looked after by the Department, it shall except in an emergency, consult the Ministry responsible for Health before making any decision, either generally or in a specific case with respect to any medical or psychiatric examination or assessment of the child.
