Functions of the Service

The Service shall be employed in the Islands for the maintenance and enforcement of law and order, the preservation of the peace, the protection of life and property, the prevention and detection of crime and the apprehension of offenders, and shall be entitled in the performance of its duties to carry arms.
Notwithstanding the generality of subsection (1), arms shall not be carried except with the authority of the Commissioner given under and in accordance with the general or special directions of the Governor.
