206. (1) A person who —
places any article or substance in any place whatever; or
dispatches any article or substance by post or any other means whatever of sending things from one place to another, Penal Code (2026 Revision) Section 207 c Revised as at 31st December, 2025 Page 85 with the intention (in either case) of inducing in some other person a belief that it is likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury or damage to property commits an offence.
A person who communicates any information which the person knows or believes to be false to another person with the intention of inducing in that person or any other person a false belief that a bomb or other thing liable to explode or ignite is present in any place or location whatever commits an offence.
For a person to be guilty of an offence under subsection (1) or (2) it is not necessary for that person to have any particular person in mind as the person in whom that person intends to induce the belief.
A person who commits an offence under subsection (1) or (2) is liable on conviction to a fine of ten thousand dollars and to imprisonment for ten years.
