Where any constable suspects that any person is carrying any firearm concealed about that said person’s person that constable may —
ask such person if that person is carrying a firearm; and
if such person admits that that person is carrying a firearm, require such person to produce the firearm and that person’s Firearm User’s (Restricted) Licence in respect thereof and, if the place in which such person is carrying the firearm is within any area to which section 17 applies, require that person to produce that person’s Firearm User’s (Special) Permit in relation to the firearm.
If any person denies that that person is carrying any firearm about that person’s person and the constable continues to suspect that that person is carrying a firearm, the constable may search that person for the purpose of seizing the suspected firearm and may detain that person for the purpose of searching that person.
Whoever, on being required so to do under this section fails to produce any firearm which that person admits that that said person is carrying concealed about that person’s person or to produce either of the documents referred to in this section in relation to the firearm or refuses to submit to being searched under this section commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of two hundred dollars or to imprisonment for six months.
