Functions of the Department

The functions of the Department include —
considering all applications made for a premises licence;
issuing, suspending and revoking a premises licence;
enforcing regulations to protect children from exposure to harmful film content;
ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations on premises licensed to conduct public film exhibitions;
giving notice of the prescribed days on and times at which public film exhibitions may be conducted; and
imposing and administering penalties in accordance with this Law and regulations made under this Law as they relate to the issue of a premises licence.
The Cabinet may, after consultation with the Department, give such general directions as to the policy to be followed by the Department in the performance of its functions under this Law and the Department shall follow such directions.
