The remuneration payable under a contract of employment may be paid in money or in kind, which means payment by provision of food, a dwelling or similar provision, as may be agreed in the contract of employment so long as —
at least fifty percent of the total remuneration is paid in money;
no payment in kind shall include liquor, drugs or any illegal substance; and
payment in kind is fairly evaluated on the basis of its cost to the employer.
An employer who contravenes this section is guilty of an offence.
